Paula Quintela has seen things differently from other people for as long as she can remember, and she has always expressed that through her art.
Paula was a young child in 1973 when the Chilean coup d’etat changed everything for the country.
Paula remembers when her family friends disappeared into exile, and other people started to vanish.
Paula became involved in political protests until it became too dangerous for her.
She was mixing her own paints from pigment and cooking oils in her studio, with the music turned up loud, and the police burst in.
