The British Labour Party is on the cusp of possibly the biggest victory in its history. But for one well-placed writer, there’s a risk in such a triumph.

 Dr Jon Cruddas is a Labour MP from South London who’s retiring at this election. He’s the author of the acclaimed new history A Century of Labour, in which he retrieves one of the party’s most influential but forgotten traditions -- an ethical and religious ideal going all the way back to Aristotle.
