What do Taylor Swift, Roger Federer, Pope John Paul II and Vladimir Putin have in common?
They’ve all cuddled a koala.
It’s only legal in South Australia and Queensland to cuddle a koala. Despite this, Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary in Brisbane has recently decided they’re going to stop letting visitors get snugly with the sleepy marsupial.
If it’s legal then why shouldn’t you? Some animal rights advocates say it’s cruel but on the other hand what if it’s good for conservation of a species?
Guest: Dr Sally Sherwen, Director of wildlife conservation and science Zoo Victoria
