Kirsten Diprose has been a journalist for more than 10 years. Most of her career has been working as a TV and radio reporter for the ABC News in Melbourne. She's now settled on a farm in the beautiful Western Districts of Victoria - still working for the ABC in Melbourne and also across Ballarat, Warrnambool and Western Victoria.
Growing up in Penrith, western Sydney, Kirsten never imagined she'd be living on a farm in regional Victoria.
She started her media career in Sydney as a producer for the 7:30 Report and Lateline. In 2007, she received an ABC cadetship as a news reporter in Melbourne. Since then, Kirsten has worked on several ABC programs, including the 7PM News, The Business, 7:30, Stateline, PM and News Breakfast. She's also worked as the News Editor in Bendigo, Ballarat and Warrnambool. And you may have also heard her presenting the Victorian ABC radio news.
Kirsten received the 2014 Quill for Reporting on Disability and was nominated again in 2016. She also received two legal reporting awards for radio news and TV current affairs in 2014.
Her biggest life-change (so far), came in 2012, when Kirsten moved to a farm, where she lives with her husband and two sons. This has sparked a new interest and respect of the weather. Kirsten regularly fills in as the Weather Presenter on ABC TV's News Breakfast, using her new-found (and still developing!) agricultural knowledge. Just don't call her a "farmer's wife"!
