Fiona Parker

Fiona Parker has been a regular voice on ABC Radio for years, having been a presenter for ABC Central Victoria in Bendigo since 2010 and before that hosting Breakfast on ABC Western Victoria for five years.

At the beginning of her career, she specialised in arts and entertainment journalism in commercial and community radio (including Fox FM and 3RRR FM), as well as working as a producer at 774 ABC Melbourne and at ABC Goulburn Murray in Wodonga.

Fiona grew up in Melbourne after moving there from Lae, Papua New Guinea, when she was in primary school.

At one point, she was positive she would become an actor, but her love of live radio and the unpredictability of an acting career changed her course and she completed a BA in Journalism at RMIT University, majoring in politics.

Her interests include sitting on a deckchair by a pool in a tropical climate with a good book, barracking for the AFL Western Bulldogs, enjoying a nice glass of red with friends, and hanging out with her husband and two sons.

She also enjoys standing around the water cooler talking about politics and the news of the day.

"I don't mind which water cooler," she says. "I just wander into an office and strike up a conversation."

Fiona's program broadcasts out of the ABC's Bendigo studios, covering Bendigo, Kyneton, Woodend and the Macedon Ranges, Castlemaine, Echuca Moama, Rochester, Maryborough … and everywhere in between.

She'd love to hear from you about what's happening in your patch, or if there is any issue you'd like to see covered on the show.

Drop her a line on centralvic@your.abc.net.au, or give her a call on 1300 813 911.

Tune into Fiona Parker every weekday morning from 6:15am—9am on 91.1 FM ABC Central Victoria.
