Alana Valentine is a playwright, dramatist, librettist and director.
Her mum was married at the Wayside Chapel in Kings Cross in 1969.
Several years ago, on ABC radio, Alana opened a Pandora's Box when she discussed the radical minister, Tedd Noffs, and the thousands of couples he married at the Wayside Chapel in the 1960s and 70s.
There were Catholics marrying Protestants, Hindus marrying Jews, bikers marrying prostitutes and even women marrying women.
These couples were all excluded from other religious institutions, but they were welcomed at the Wayside Chapel.
Alana's mum died three days before her 50th birthday — before Alana got the chance to ask her about her Wayside wedding, or other parts of her life.
